Scouts December 2008

This month has been a festive month for Boy Scouts. We had our first meeting on December 2nd. We used that time to plan our skit for the Pack Christmas party. As I read through our Webelos handbook, I realized that if we did a sock puppet skit, it would accomplish about half of the activities we needed to do to get the Showman pin. So, at our second meeting on the 9th, we made sock puppets. They turned out great! We also worked on our Traveler requirements. This involved looking at maps, finding two different routs to a destination and figuring the milage. I think my head was spinning after all this. The boys thought it was great and had a fun time with all these activities.
Our Pack meeting was held on December 16th. Again, there were lots of advancement awards given. Then we received our prizes for popcorn sales. Each boy in our den not only received their prize, but a giant Hershey's chocolate bar because we were the only den to have 100% participation in popcorn sales. By the way, popcorn purchases are the easiest way to support Boy Scouts. You can either buy some for yourself, or buy some to send overseas to our men and women in the Military. We finished the evening with each den putting on their skits and eating lots of sweets brought by the parents. Its so great to not only invest in the future of America, but to get to have fun doing it!
