Outstanding Scouter Award

Caroline and I attended the Outstanding Scouter Awards Banquet this past Saturday Night. It was a fun filled evening with a super hero theme. We were hosted by the likes of Superman, Super Scouter and Batman. This was an occasion to honor the leaders in Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts who have gone above and beyond the call of one hour per week leadership. We
both received the Outstanding Scouter Award for Pack 175. Caroline has been my Assistant Den leader for the past four years and last year became our Pack Committee Chairman. (Which means she organizes our entire Pack.) I have been the Den 4 leader for the past four years and have also been instrumental in starting a new Tiger Den. So much for one hour per week!

St. Patrick's Day Parade

Today was the Denver St. Patrick's Day parade. I was honored to ride with my daughter's competitive cheer team- Apex All Stars. Their website is http://apexallstars.com/ .

Vanessa and Colin graciously let me ride in their mom's car.
Rachel and I took a "MySpace" picture. It's one of my favorites!

Pinewood Derby

Tonight was our Packs Pinewood Derby. It is always an exciting night. The boys race home made cars. Many are quite amazing. This year we had an IPOD car that actually played music and another car that looked like a crouching wolf with real glowing eyes.

Joshua, my middle son won first place in the open class division. This is open to all family members of boys in the den. These are usually the most creative cars. Josh's was a simple wedge. Way to go!

Matt won one of the special awards for Most Original. His car had fenders that were added. Good design! This picture is of Matt, myself and Henry who won first place in our Den. Here I am with the Pack first place finisher. The top three finishers are invited to go on to the District Pinewood Derby. My Boys were so cute. When we got home they insisted on a picture of all the trophys. Thanks guys for including me. What a great end to our last Pinewood Derby!

Den 4

When my Den learned about my new title, they were so proud they wanted a picture with me. I have seen this group of boys go from a "wiggly" set of six year olds to the respectful boys they have grown into. I am so proud of each and every on of them. It is my dream to attend each boys Eagle Court of Honor!

Communications Achievement

At our meeting this week we began working on our Communications Achievement. We used a wheel to make a secret code and then write a message. Then we played the Body Language game. That was so much fun to guess what emotion each boy was showing. We finished with Guess the Parts of a Computer game. Those boys are smart when it comes to computers. Communications is one of the most important part of Respect. By learning communication skills, these boys will be better able to deal with their future and that will be good for all of us.
