When we moved into our new home, we were so excited to remodel the kitchen. The first picture is of the original kitchen. It was last remodeled in the 1980's with used cabinets and appliances. Imagine my excitement when I was told that I could get the kitchen of my dreams. I was able to choose the cabinets, configuration, counter tops, flooring back splash and all new appliances! I was finally going to use all those pages I had saved from years of looking through magazines!
Work began in early February. My husband and his father were doing all the work. As they opened up walls it became evident that there was much more work to be done than simply replacing a few cabinets. This added several weeks of work while they closed up a transom, rewired all the electrical and moved plumbing. Then April came and the impending opening of camp. My kitchen remodel came to a screeching halt.
If you look at the second picture, you can see that the fridge and dishwasher still have the plastic covers on them. The far wall is tiled, but the rest is still sitting on the counter. We are so close to finishing. We even have the new flooring in the front hall, just waiting to be installed. But, camp has to be ready to open in three weeks. So my dream kitchen waits.
Are you in a place like me? You have a dream and may have even begun to work toward it. Perhaps you never finished that college degree. Maybe, you still don't have that dream job. Perhaps you have dreamed of remodeling and may have even started five years ago! Have you always dreamed of winning a national title? What ever your dream is, set a date on completion of that dream. You see, dreams are just goals without a date.
My date for the kitchen to be competed is September 1st. Why did I choose that date? Well, it gives us time to complete it after camp closes in August. I also plan to have a big party on Labor Day. It has to be finished by then. My husband is in agreement with the plan. So, be sure to check back in September to see the finished kitchen. Leave a comment with your dream and the date, then post a picture to my Facebook Page of the finished goal. I can't wait to see it!
